The Franklin, Real Pirates Exhibit– May 2008

“Interactive, comedic, and of course, filled with real Pirate sword fighting, the Shadow Players are a talented, fan-friendly group who helped enhance the visitor experience at the Philadelphia museum opening of our “Real Pirates” exhibit. It was a pleasure to have them here! “

ECU Ghosts of Pirates Past, Greenville, NC  Oct 31, 07

From our first conversation to discuss our event to the end of their performance, we were completely satisfied with the Shadow Players. Their performances, costumes, and characters were an integral part in our activity being successful. Their costumes and performance were extremely lifelike! On behalf of the thousands of students who took part in the event, I want to thank the Shadow Players for being such a great group to work with!

Tall Ships - Newport, RI 2007

What great fun it was to have the Shadow Players Combat Group ramp up the action at Tall Ships Newport 2007! They know exactly how to please a crowd with their flamboyant costumes and skilled shows. Parents and kids loved their friendly interaction after the shows, especially when they handed out the pirate's loot. Easy to work with, they gave 100% of their talent to keeping waiting crowds amused. They will be at the top of our list for the next festival.

ECU Pirate Fest April 14, 2007

Dear Diana et al,
I cannot believe how many people have told me how wonderful the "Pirates" were.
All the little kids, all the old people, all the in between people. It was a wonderful series of performances and we really appreciate your friendliness and your professionalism. I think most of the kids thought we were in the presence of "real" pirates whatever they think that is.
Our Pirate Fest just would not have been half as good as it was without your wonderful troupe.
In this town there are about 70,000 pirate fans and 18,000 pirate fan students. We take our pirating pretty seriously here.

Thank you so much for being our pirates.

Dear Diana,

Please let your wonderful troupe of players know how much we appreciated their marvelous attitude and exceptional skills over the course of four amazingly hot days in Beaufort, NC during the Pepsi Americas' Sail Tall Ships Festival, July 1-4.  Your continual smiles and positive attitudes, and exceptional sword fighting of course, kept many a hot and tired patron amused and entertained while standing in long lines.  I look forward to the time when we can work together again.

Dear Diana and Members of the Shadow Player Stage Combat Group,                  Thank you all for your marvelous and dynamic contributions to our tri-centennial celebration of Maritime Heritage Days in Bath, North Carolina's oldest town and the State's first port.  Your presence in Bath was outstanding from your period dress, and your characterizations to the performances of skillful and physical combat with weaponry. Crowds of all ages were enthralled.  The children were especially delighted to be able to interact with you during the Children's Parade. As event planners we were appreciative of your flexibility and willingness to go where needed throughout the weekend event.  Thank you for your enthusiasm and your professionalism.  We would look forward to a return engagement in Bath.

Warmest Regards,

What could be better at a maritime festival than pirates?  That’s what the organizers of our annual Port of Wilmington (NC) Maritime Day Festival asked when we first invited the Shadow Players to perform at our event.  We had such a positive response to their performance that year that we asked them back for the next year – and plan to invite them again, if we can get on their schedule.

The Shadow Players give a great stage show and they work the crowds well.  The children love the pirates’ attention, but we appreciated the entertainment they provided for those waiting in lines for some of our activities and tours.  The Shadow Players are tireless during our six-hour Festival – they never stop!  They are a tremendous value for the fee they are paid.

The Shadow Players have been an integral part of the North Carolina Blackbeard Fest in Morehead City for the past four years.  Since their first appearance with the festival, the Shadow Players have been a crowd favorite with their swordplay and sense of humor.  Their interaction with the audience is second to none.  They are flexible and enjoyable to work with.  Professionalism and a penchant for safety are core values with this group which gives comfort to an event organizer.  I highly recommend them for any event.

Our first Wilmington Nautical Festival was held in July 2003.   Our committee was familiar with the Shadow Players due to their participation in other events in Wilmington.  They came with high recommendations from other event organizers.    The Shadow Players were everything and more that we wanted for our festival.  The crew was professional, entertaining, enthusiastic and accommodating.   For many they were the highlight of the festival.    We certainly  hope that the Shadow Players will continue to be a part of Nautical Festival in years to come.  They are a wonderful addition to our festival and on a personal level the members of the Shadow Players are a joy to work with.

If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

July 15, 2004

Dear Diana,

On behalf of the staff of Norfolk Festevents, I would like to thank The Shadow Players for their tremendous support of making The 2004 Norfolk Harborfest® such a great event! Due to the commitment of organizations like yours, thousands of people enjoyed a day of great entertainment and fun!

Your performances throughout Town Point Park were an important addition to The Norfolk Harborfest® programming elements.  Since then we have received such terrific feedback about your shows.

I would also like to commend you for being such an easy group to work with from the very beginning.  Implementing our new scheduling format this year you made it very simple for not only myself but also the public to locate and observe all of your entertaining performances.  You were at all times very professional, hard working and energetic.

I hope that you will continue to work with us in the upcoming years.  Shadow Players will be a necessity for next year’s Norfolk Harborfest® programming.

Thank you again for all of your support and we look forward to talking with you in the future about expanding our relationship.

Sincerely,

Diana,

The Mile of hope was a fantastic success.  The 24 special cancer kids along with their families had a wonderful weekend at Atlantic Beach, NC.  The fun of fellowship, building sand castels and being attacked by pirates was thrilling.  Over 100 guests plus numerous volunteers enjoyed the activities during our "pirate" adventure May 7-9, 2004.

The Mile of Hope, The Optimist and I extend a special thanks to the Shadow Players for their participation during the entire weekend.  Your costumes were great, which really created the atmosphere of a pirate weekend.  Your interaction with the kids and families was commendable and they really believed that you were the real thing (you are).  The sword fighting, the acting and especially the caring added a great deal to the enjoyment and weekend "get-away" for these kids suffering with cancer.  Having pirates on our cruise and being attacked by a real pirate ship highlighted the Mile of Hope.

Thanks again for all you and the Shadow Players did for the Mile of Hope. I highly recommend your group for any event and I'm excited about next year and look forward to working with you again.

Sincerely,  Ed Moore, Chairman of the Mile of Hope

Diana,

Thank you so much for performing at our Wake County Cub Scout Daycamp. The scouts and adult volunteers truly treasured your visit.  I even enjoyed wearing the chain mail around for an hour in 95 degree heat. The personal attention and humor your show provided made it that much more special.  I am still getting comments on how great it was to have your visit our daycamp!

Thanks again!
